Valentine's Day Traditions

I met a girlfriend at Barnes & Noble so I could buy some books for our little Valentine's getaway.  Momastery recommended The Twisted Sisterhood which I enjoyed.  And of course, I have to get the kids at least a couple of  books for Valentine's Day... it's one of our traditions ever since I UNKNOWINGLY BOUGHT THE BEST BOOK EVER!

... One of my favorite examples of you just never know what "little" things will mean the "most" to your kids.

I remember when my dad sent red roses to my mom and a single rose to me and each of my sisters on Valentine's Day.  He probably doesn't even remember this but I certainly do- I thought it was so thoughtful.

Mary Fowler's birthday is the day after Valentine's Day so before she turned one, I wanted to pick up a few, little things.  I think I bought some kind of chocolate treat and then,  on a whim, I picked up this little book from a Barnes and Noble display table.

It quickly became a favorite with Mary Fowler, and then with Davis.  We all memorized the words, and -fast forward 8 years- When I recently pulled it off the bookshelf to give it to my one year old nephew, both Mary Fowler and Davis and Adam!  made it VERY clear that this book was NOT going anywhere.
